Game of Thrones

Several noble houses fight a civil war over who should be king, while an exiled princess tries to find her place in the world, and the kingdom is threatened by some rising supernatural threat in the north.

Game of Thrones is very difficult to summarize because the story comes from the point-of-view of 8 different nobles, but the book can be narrowed down into 3 different stories.

The first story is of the noble Stark family, which deals with conspiracy and court politics in the 7 Kingdoms of the Westeros. The center of this story revolves around the father and leader of the Starks, Eddard Stark.

The second story deals with an exiled princess, Daenerys, who grows up on the other side of the continent. She is the daughter of an older royal family and is said to be the mother of Dragons.

The last story deals with the illegitimate son of Eddard Stark, Jon Snow. Very early on in the season of the show, Jon Snow leaves the family to hopefully pursue a role his father would be proud of called, the “Night’s Watch.” This is a military order in the North of Westeros that was created as a police station for the seven kingdoms from danger outside the walls of the Kingdom.

The book distinguishes these 3 stories very clearly. These three stories are the center pieces for Game of Thrones and Game of Thrones Season 4 television show.

Game of Thrones Season 4

The Game of Thrones Season 4, “a feast of crows,” is the 4th installment in George R. R. Martin’s collection, “A song of Ice and Fire.”

The War of the Five Kings are coming to an end and Rob Stark, Joffrey Baratheon, Renly Baratheon, and Balon Greyjoy are all dead. Stannis has gone to the aid of the wall, where Jon Snow, the illegitimate son of Eddard Stark and now Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch resides. King Tommen Baratheon, Joffrey’s 8 year old brother, now rules King’s Landing under the watchful eye of his mother Queen Regent Cersei Lannister. Because Tyrion has killed Cersei’s father, Tywin, there are no more checks on Cersei, whom is essentially Ruling Queen of the Seven Kingdoms by name and not title. It comes quite evident that she is unable to yield the power that she has been yearning so long. She starts to spire out of control and heads to self-destruction. The Kingdoms are still undecided in Game of Thrones Season 4.
